This year, 2019, marked the fifth time we appeared at BCMFest (Boston Celtic Music Fest). We enjoy the festival for its own sake: catching up with friends, striking up new acquaintances and, of course, taking in all the excellent music and dance performances. BCMFest also has served as an opportunity for us to debut new material -- stuff we worked on in the period leading up to the festival, at the weekly rehearsals we squeezed in right after work before heading home to our patient, ever-supportive spouses.
Most of what appears on this album (along with our previous release, seantsmith.bandcamp.com/album/colleen-white-sean-smith-live-at-bcmfest) are songs or tunes we'd never before played in public until BCMFest. If perhaps we were a bit nervous about the prospect, we were most of all excited to be sharing these new additions to our repertoire with the appreciative BCMFest audiences.
We thank Matt Smith and Abby Altman of Club Passim for handling the sound and making us feel at ease, all the BCMFest staff, and of course, the folks out there in the seats. (For more about BCMFest, see passim.org/bcmfest)
